City of Boulder and Program Partners Launch Solar Benefits Boulder County
Boulder, a platinum-level solar friendly community with more than 300 days of sunshine each year, is an ideal place to expand solar energy use.
Building on the success of the Solar Benefits Colorado Program, the City of Boulder, Boulder County and its municipalities have launched Solar Benefits Boulder County to encourage households and businesses to go solar. Through the program, residents and businesses can take advantage of reduced prices for solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and for buying or leasing an electric vehicle.
The program uses bulk-purchase discounts in partnership with local vendors to offer affordable options to Boulder Country residents. The deadline for residential solar participants is May 15. Commercial solar and electric vehicle participants must sign up by June 30.
Qualified homeowners receive a no-cost, no-obligation site evaluation to determine if their home is suitable for solar. Homeowners will then work with a local solar installer, Namaste Solar, who was selected by the program's community evaluation committee. Compounding multiple customer installations under one umbrella allows Namaste Solar to offer discounted, "bulk" pricing with an added incentive when the program reaches at least 400kW. Residents can request their home evaluation on the Solar Benefits Boulder County website.
