Mark will be presenting information about different types of insulation and their applications for both new construction and retrofits. Included will be research findings on the effectiveness of insulation as well as how insulation plays into code compliance.
 
Learning objectives:
- Learn about insulation R-value as it relates to heat loss in the building envelope
- Understand the differences in insulation types, their R-values, and their relative costs
- Learn about proper insulation installation, and how it impacts the performance of the insulation
- Understand how proper insulation can improve comfort and reduce mechanical heating/cooling requirements.
 

Mark Bloomfield is a certified HERS rater and BPI Building analyst with a background in Mechanical Engineering. Mark strives to provide owners, builders, and architects with the information they need to make smart choices in the process of designing their projects, whether they be new construction or renovations. Mark loves to be involved in every stage of the process, from high-level conceptual design, using sustainable principles to integrate a project into the surrounding community, to insulation inspections during construction, ensuring energy efficient performance for the life of the building.
