This is an Efficiency Works / Xcel Energy event.  The home, like a body, is interconnected.  Improving the HVAC without improving the building envelope (or vice versa) is like giving a human a new heart without the lung capacity to feed it oxygen: when everything is strong, the whole is stronger than the parts.

This presentation will include 1 hour on updates and changes to Xcel’s rebate programs for HVAC equipment, along with tips on how to successfully participate in these opportunities.  Following the programmatic updates, Rob Minnick will spend 1.25 hours on the following topics:
•         Learn best practices content of energy audit reports
•         Discuss the top energy-gain areas for Home Performance
•         Study quality improvement work that translates to rebates – without corrections
•         Rebate applications that tell the improvement story well
•         Learn how to overcome immediate comfort issues so you have time to do the job right

Approved for 1.13 hours of CEUs through BPI.  Pending approval for NATE CEUs.

The presenters will be:

Christmas Ramirez, Program Manager, Xcel Energy.  Christmas has been at Xcel Energy for over five years, holding several positions on both the residential and commercial/industrial rebate-related teams.  Christmas program manages Home Performance, Home Energy Audits, Insulation and Air Sealing, Data Center Efficiency, and Refrigerator Recycling.

Ann Kirkpatrick, Channel Manager, Xcel Energy.  Ann made a mid-life career upgrade from the telecommunications industry to the utility industry five years ago.  Ann has resided in Denver most of her adult life.  As the Colorado residential Channel Manager for Xcel Energy, Ann recruits, educates and problem solves for the trade partners, and is a key communicator to/from the trade partners and Xcel Energy.

Rob Minnick, President of Minnick’s, a family-owned HVAC and Building Science business in Baltimore, MD.  Minnick’s has transformed their business in the past three years from a pretty traditional HVAC shop to a full-service HVAC and building envelope business.  Customers are screened up front, and many encouraged to work with other local competitors instead; but the close rate of the calls that are taken is around 40%, with an average ticket price of $30,000.
