Overview

Achieving high performance building criteria like the German Passive House standard is difficult. Very few people in Colorado know how to achieve a 90% reduction in energy required to heat a home or building. This 4 part training series is intended to be a starting point for that journey.

Session 2: Envelope assemblies and insulation options that achieve excellent thermal performance. This session will include discussions on different wall assemblies, different insulation options and key installation considerations.

  • Envelope assemblies that manage moisture, deliver excellent thermal performance, reduce air infiltration, last longer and are less likely to have mold and rot.
  • Various insulation options. Foams, fiberglass and cellulose are relatively well known. We will cover these and other insulation options to include Foam Glass, Mineral Wool, Perlite and Straw Bale.
  • Proper installation techniques. Envelope assemblies and insulation, like anything, can certainly be done wrong. Protect your business by leaning how best to build and insulate envelope assemblies.
