Playhouse Design Competition Application

Accepting Entries for the Second Annual Boulder Green Playhouse Design Competition and Auction The auction will raise money to support Growing Gardens' Children's Peace Garden Program and the Guild's mission to make green building common practice.

Who can participate?

  • This Design/ Build Competition will be open to all teams the include either:
    • A) one State of Colorado registered architect or
    • B) a company sponsored design/ builder.
  • You must provide us with a copy of your liability insurance during registration. 

COST? ONLY A $100 Administrative and Registration Fee
Display your playhouse at a local Boulder Location for 3 weeks, AND participate in the Judging and LIVE Auction at Growing Gardens Saturday, June 8th 2013. (Locations choice is first come firs serve and included but is not limited to to McGuckins Hardware, The Butterfly Pavilion, and ReSource Yard) 

    Competition Basics

    • Life-size play structure entries must be large enough for children to play in but may not be larger than 6' x 6' x 8' (height), measured from the exterior of the structure.Smaller dimensions are encouraged. Minimum size to be 4’ x 4’ x 6’
    • Entries should be constructed creatively and from green materials. We do not expect these playhouses to necessarily have insulation or glass windows, therefore, the green criteria for this contest are focused on materials.
    • Entries must be durable enough to withstand setup, transport, and the wear and tear of display.
    • Entries should be constructed for outdoor use 

     

    Other Marketing & Visibility available to ALL Teams:

    • Project profile and photos on Guild website
    • Social media mentions featuring your team through Guild social media accounts.
    • "Featured team" on Google Ads promoting the event
    • Business listing on posters and promotional postcards.
    • Opportunities to showcase your work at June 8th fundraiser
    • Special thank you and mention on stage during the event.
    • Green building profile displayed with your completed work at the June 8th fundraiser, and with any public display.
    • Print advertising exposure in local publications, including but not limited to: Urban Home Magazine, Boulder County Home and Garden, Boulder County Business Report.


    Your online application infers that you:

    1. I/we have complied with and accept the regulations and conditions which apply to this competition.

    2. I/we agree to accept the decision of the judges as final, and I/we agree to permit free publication and exhibition of my/our design work.

    3. I/we declare that the design is my/our work and that the drawings have been prepared by myself/us in my/our office under my/our direct supervision.

    Liability Agreement

    • Playhouses will be auctioned off for charity the day of the judging. All of the proceeds will be donated to Growing Gardens (GG) and the Boulder Green Building Foundation (BGBF), both 501(C)3 non-profit organizations, to further green building & urban gardening education. Therefore, entries will not be returned. Instead, they will be auctioned off and the highest bidder will become the owner of the playhouse upon receipt of payment from the bidder. Since the GG and BGBF are tax-exempt organizations, you should consult with your tax advisor about the possibility of receiving a tax-write off for the value of the bid amount that you are donating.

    • The Colorado Green Building Guild may decide to publish or photograph your submissions, drawings, text, etc. By submitting an entry, you grant the Guild and its sponsoring organizations the right to use the names, images, likeness of any contestant and the contestant’s personnel, as well as any materials that submit as part of your entry, in promotional, educational, advertising or informational materials without compensation. The Guild will not return any materials that you submit along with your entry.

    • Upon submitting your entry, neither the Guild nor the owner of the premises where your entry is being stored will be responsible for any damage, liability, accident, destruction, left or loss related to (i) your entry or any of your other property, or (ii) any damage or harm your entry or your other property causes to any person or the property of another. No bailment is created. You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Guild its personnel, owners, employees, sponsors and agents, from and against any and all losses, damages, claims, demands, suits, actions, liabilities, proceedings, judgments and expenses in connection with or arising out of your entry, including but not limited to that any portion of your entry is defective or dangerous or that your entry or your other property caused damage to another person or the property of another.
